Connect ChatGPT or Codex
Add CompanyOS to ChatGPT, the Codex CLI and app, or Codex Cloud as a remote MCP server.
Last verified: 2026-08-20
ChatGPT and Codex connect to the same link as Claude: https://app.companyos.cc/api/mcp. There is no client ID, client secret, or API key. Sign-in happens in CompanyOS after you add the link. For what a connected client can see and do, read AI Clients.
ChatGPT
- Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT’s settings. Where it lives depends on your plan and changes over time; see OpenAI’s connection guide.
- Add a custom connector and paste the connection link.
- Sign in to CompanyOS and pick the Workspace.
- If ChatGPT asks for a context or token allowance, enter 50000.
Developer mode is a ChatGPT setting, not a CompanyOS one. If you would rather not turn it on, use Claude.
Codex CLI, app, and IDE
Add a Streamable HTTP server named companyos, then sign in:
[mcp_servers.companyos]
url = "https://app.companyos.cc/api/mcp"
startup_timeout_sec = 20
tool_timeout_sec = 120
codex mcp login companyos
In the Codex app or IDE extension you can do the same from Settings → MCP servers → Add server → Streamable HTTP. Type /mcp in Codex to confirm companyos is connected. See Codex MCP setup.
Codex Cloud
Codex Cloud runs in a hosted environment and needs internet access to reach CompanyOS.
- Open Codex Cloud environments.
- Turn on agent internet access.
- Add an MCP server named
companyos, type Streamable HTTP, URLhttps://app.companyos.cc/api/mcp. - If asked for a context or token allowance, set 50000.
- Complete the CompanyOS sign-in and pick the Workspace.
Check that it works
Ask:
Search CompanyOS for the launch plan. Summarize it and cite sources.
The answer should cite a file you can open. Then ask the client to read that source in full. In ChatGPT and Codex, CompanyOS shows a short search status rather than an embedded screen; the assistant receives the full sources and explains them in the conversation.
Adding the connection does not install CompanyOS for your whole team. Each Member connects with their own account.
Troubleshooting
- Codex Cloud can’t connect. Turn on agent internet access, then retry.
- App tools are missing. Check the App’s connection in CompanyOS, then ask the client to refresh its tool list.
- A source isn’t found. Check the selected Workspace and whether the file is still processing.
